Healing for Social Justice

Embodied Liberation Through Somatic Healing

I believe that collective liberation requires healing at both individual and community levels. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certified through Somatic Experiencing International, I dedicate my practice to supporting those who stand at the frontlines of social change.

I am the granddaughter of renowned political artist Elizabeth Catlett and celebrated Mexican artist Francisco Mora. In my practice, I carry forward a family legacy of creative resistance and healing. Their commitment to social justice through art profoundly shaped my understanding of how transformation happens through both bold truth-telling and deep healing. Their influence guides my passion for integrating somatic practices with social justice work.

My Mission

My work integrates neurobiological approaches to trauma healing with ancestral wisdom traditions to create pathways for genuine transformation. I guide individuals and communities to:

  • Develop the capacity to regulate their nervous systems

  • Navigate overwhelming sensations and emotions with presence

  • Reclaim embodied power and agency

  • Build resilience against systemic oppression

  • Reconnect with cultural and ancestral healing practices

Through this journey, we restore dignity, build resilience, and reclaim the embodied freedom that systems of oppression have attempted to diminish.

Supporting the Movement

I have been privileged to work alongside visionary abolitionist organizations throughout Los Angeles County and I continue to offer these healing and educational services for the Social Justice community.

This sacred collaboration has included:

  • Facilitating trauma-informed educational workshops

  • Teaching accessible neurobiology of trauma healing

  • Holding healing circles for staff and community members

  • Providing one-on-one somatic support for movement leaders and organizers

  • Creating sustainable healing practices that honor cultural wisdom

Sustaining the Work of Justice

Those committed to challenging systems of oppression carry not only their personal histories but also the weight of collective struggle. The biology of chronic stress and activism-related trauma can deplete even the most dedicated changemakers.

I believe that incorporating somatic healing practices isn't a luxury—it's essential infrastructure for sustainable movement work. By prioritizing embodied healing, we don't just survive the work of justice—we transform ourselves while transforming systems.

When we tend to our nervous systems and honor our bodies' wisdom, we model the very world we seek to create: one where wholeness, dignity, and collective care form the foundation of our communities.

“Somatic healing also helps individuals cultivate a sense of safety in their bodies, creating a relative container of safety that allows them to begin perceiving safety in their surroundings. This sense of safety is crucial for facilitating healing.”
