About Ifé (efáy)

I am a Buddhist and bicultural woman of Black American and Mexican-Indigenous heritage, belonging to the Purépecha tribe of Michoacán, Mexico. Raised in the Buddhist tradition, I was given a path as a Buddhist educator and counselor within my faith. Growing up in Detroit in the 1980s, I faced various traumas within my family and community, which left deep wounds. As a former professional musician and recording artist, I also endured acute trauma within the music industry during my career in New York City, Europe, and Los Angeles. This accumulated trauma
became unsustainable and ultimately caused my mind, body, and spirit to shut down. I was lost, depressed, in pain, sick, and disembodied after many years of surviving and occasional moments of thriving.

While on my own healing journey, I was introduced to Somatic Experiencing®—a gentle, neurobiological, embodied approach to trauma healing developed by Dr. Peter Levine. This experience transformed my life, leading me to leave my career in music and redirect my path to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and Trauma-Informed Educator. I now integrate my background in Buddhism and other wisdom traditions into my healing work as a Somatic Practitioner, Healer, and Coach.

Over the past five years, I have helped numerous individuals and families heal from trauma and supported many organizations with trauma-informed education through my integrative approach. This work empowers them to lead happier, healthier, safer, more resilient, and fulfilling lives.

Through my own healing, I have discovered my true purpose as a healer. I deeply believe that if everyone healed their trauma and became trauma-informed, they could reach their highest potential, inspire healing within their families and communities, and help create a kinder, safer world for us all.

Join me on a journey to step into your greatness, heal, and discover your purpose.

As a result, we create

more space for the abundance we seek

to flow into our lives.”

MISSION:

Ifé emphasizes healing somatically through an embodied mind-body-spirit approach, utilizing the neurobiology of trauma healing to foster nervous system resilience and regulation. She strongly believes that a society struggling with equity, equality, and social justice can be transformed into a more humane and just community through trauma-informed education and healing, both on a personal and societal level.
Passionate about healing trauma from a neurobiological perspective, Ifé focuses on somatic healing for both individuals and the collective. She believes that doing inner work and healing trauma individually creates a trickle-down effect—when we heal the trauma stored in our biology, we inspire healing in our families, friends, and communities. This collective healing can spark change in every aspect of society. Healing allows people to connect with their humanity and act from a place of compassion, rather than from reflexive survival responses like fight, flight, or freeze.

Ifé is deeply committed to helping communities thrive by fostering resilience, self-
empowerment, and collective trauma healing, with a focus on Healing Justice and Abolitionism. Her dedication to the holistic healing of mind, body, and spirit, combined with her commitment to community healing, positions Ifé as a valuable resource for those seeking profound transformation, trauma-informed education, and holistic wellness. Through her guidance, individuals and groups can embark on a journey toward healing, self-discovery, and a more authentic, fulfilling life.

Drawing on wisdom traditions and spiritual teachings, Ifé integrates personal development, trauma healing, and nervous system resilience to help individuals facilitate transformative shifts and lead higher-quality lives.

Ifé’s ultimate mission is to help people heal the trauma stored in their bodies and nervous systems, enabling them to regulate chronic stress, resolve trauma, build resilience, and live safer, happier, and more hopeful lives. She strives to help people reconnect with their authentic selves and access their body’s innate ability to heal.
